Instant Pot Chicken Breasts is one of the easiest weeknight dinner options with just 10 minutes of hands-on time. You can easily cook this juicy and tender recipe with simple ingredients and no sauteing. Within 30-40 minutes you can cook this delicious chicken breast in Instant Pot recipe easily.

  • 4 Pieces chicken breasts (boneless and skinless )
  • ½ teaspoon  salt
  • 1 teaspoon  Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon  black pepper
  • ¾ teaspoon Onion powder

  • ¾ teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1½ tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup Chicken stock or water
  • 1 tablespoon  cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons  water (extra)
  1. Mix salt, pepper, garlic and onion powders and Italian seasoning in a bowl.

  2. Coat those over each chicken breast, on each side also.

  3. Add water and place the stainless steel trivet inside.

  4. Lay chicken breasts properly in a single layer and sprinkle with garlic powder, salt & pepper. Also, coat the chicken evenly with tongs or hands.

  5. Add olive oil to the Instant Pot.

  6. Cook little to make brown on each side for about 3 minutes.

  7. Now remove chicken onto a plate and set aside.

  8. Add minced garlic to the pot and stir a few times. Let again brown it slightly in the leftover oil.

  9. Add nearly 1/4 cup of the chicken stock to the Instant Pot 

  10. Again arrange all chicken breasts on top and place trivet in the Instant Pot

  11. Close the pot lid and set it SEAL and cook at HIGH pressure up to 5 minutes.

  12. After the timer (5 mins) ends Instant Pot release the pressure naturally, carefully open the lid away.

  13. Also, remove the chickens onto a plate and set aside.

  14. Now whisk together cornstarch and water in a bowl. And add to the leftover liquid also.

  15. Place in the pot and cook it again for a minute or two until it thickened.

  16. Finally, take it off from the pot and Serve chicken with gravy.

  • Using frozen chicken breast is not a good choice for this recipe. 
  • You can also use bone-in chicken thighs for this delicious recipe. 
  • Chicken breast between 6 and 8 ounces  5 minutes of cooking time is perfect for this recipe. And if chicken breast sizes are (up to 12 ounces), you need to add 2 more minutes.
  • According to your taste choice, you can adjust the seasoning.
  • If you want to make the gravy very rich use coars sea salt.

Important Tips: Instant Pot Chicken Breasts

  • Using frozen chicken breast is not a good choice for this recipe. Because it’s not so easy to cook well and make the frozen chicken brown, Golden, and speckled. The cooking time will increase and Instant Pot will take a longer time to come to pressure. You will surely miss the gravy option also.
  • You can also use bone-in chicken thighs for this delicious recipe. A properly dressed potato, cut in half, will be a great option to cook with it. This will make the gravy an addon taste.
  • If you have chicken breast between 6 and 8 ounces  5 minutes of cooking time is perfect for this recipe. But if the chicken breast sizes are larger (up to 12 ounces), you need to add 2 more minutes.
  • According to your taste choice, you can adjust the seasoning. You also have the option to add your favorite spices. If you want to make the gravy very rich use coars sea salt preferably 1.5 teaspoons of sea salt is best for moderate taste option.
